Google Takeout allows you to archive your data, then download a copy of the archive file for use with other Google or non-Google services.
If you wish to have access to any of the files in your Google Drive after you have convocated from Ohio Hi-Point, you need to use Takeout to get those files!
Juniors: You will have all of the files you have saved in your Google Drive available when you return in the fall. You do NOT need to do these steps.
Seniors: You should do this before laptop collection for either class has taken place. The Tech Dept. is happy to help you with this process, but NOT on laptop collection days. Seniors needing help should see us prior to 5/16.
You have until July 1st to complete this task if you wish to keep any files from your Google Drive (or contacts, etc.). Beginning July 1st you will no longer have access to your OHP Google account.
Go to Google Takeout
Use the slider to choose each type of data you would like to keep. Note that EVERYTHING is selected by default, and you do not want to keep "everything." The fewer items you select, the less time it will take to download. Most students will just want Drive, Bookmarks, and Contacts.
Click NEXT.
The delivery method is set to email you at your OHP Gmail account by default. You can change that to have the file download to Dropbox or OneDrive if you have an account for either of these.
Click CREATE ARCHIVE
You will then see a new window letting you know your archive is in process, and you will receive an email when complete.
Once you receive that email, follow the instructions to download the file. You will want to save that file on different computer than your school laptop, or save it on an external storage device like a flash drive, portable hard drive, etc.
NOTE: Google Takeout is only for use when taking information OUT of the Google system. If you have a personal Google account and want to move your data to that account, please try this website.
